Our Story

Oura Scents began as a conversation between two friends in 2020, fueled by several cups of coffee.

Having lived in Toronto, Canada for most of our lives, we both have ancestral roots in Africa, India and Pakistan. Our marriages led us to discovering the rich heritage of the Middle East, which is the inspiration behind starting Oura Scents.

The Middle East is known for creating incredible, long-lasting Arabian aromas using natural ingredients. When you walk into any mall or souk, the first scent to hit you is that of bakhoor. When a local (to the country) walks by, you instantly get a whiff of their enchanting perfume (attar). The scents can be light, intoxicating, floral, musky, deep - the options are endless.


Why bakhoor and attar?
Growing up, bakhoor and attar perfumes were a large part of our culture. Bakhoor was, and is still, used as an air freshener of sorts before guests come over.

We have mental images of our parents scurrying around holding an incense burner, wafting the scent in all corners of the house. The idea is that when someone walks in, they feel instantly comforted and welcome. Fragrances hold memories, and just a whiff of a certain scent always brings back tons of happy childhood stories.

The attar perfume concentrated oils are usually packed into a small, beautiful gold bottle, and gently applied on the inside of guests wrists as they leave the house after a gathering - this way they take away a little scent of you. It is also considered a great gift for wedding anniversaries, birthdays or special occasions like Ramadan and Eid.

What do we hope to achieve?
Over the last few years, we came to appreciate these elements of our culture more. But we realised, people were ordering their stock from family or friends living in the Middle East or when they went on holiday, and were not buying it from within Canada itself. Why? Either because it wasn't readily available or it was too expensive.

Our goal with Oura Scents Canada is to give you an fragrance that can truly become yours, and you can keep ordering without the worry of international shipping and surcharge pricing.

We want you to have a piece of home (for those who have grown up with it) or a piece of Arabian culture (for first-timers).

Do you deliver across Canada?

Yes, we deliver across Canada! Place your order and upon checkout, add your delivery address, and the shipping charge will automatically apply.

Do you deliver outside Canada?

Yes, we do! You can now order our products in the United States of America. Shipping charges will be automatically applied on checkout.

How long will my order take to be delivered?

It usually takes between 3 to 5 business days to be delivered unless there is a delay due to any unforeseen circumstances.

Can I refund a product?

Unfortunately, once purchased a product cannot be refunded or exchanged, unless there has been any damage during transit.

Are your products alcohol-free?

Yes! All our products under the Hamidi Oud & Perfumes UAE brand are 100% alcohol-free unless mentioned otherwise.

Do you take cash on delivery?

We can only fulfil deliveries that have been completely paid for through our website using a credit or debit card. We unfortunately do not accept cash on delivery.
